What Defines a Strong Process Safety Management Platform in 2026

Choosing process safety management software is difficult because the platform has to support far more than one workflow. It needs to work across the way teams manage risk, changes, incidents, and other process safety activities across the organization.

That is what makes Benchmark Gensuite’s placement as a Leader in the 2026 Verdantix Green Quadrant for Process Safety Management Software worth examining. Verdantix evaluated 11 prominent PSM software providers across both product capabilities and market momentum, providing an independent look at where Benchmark Gensuite stood out.

How Verdantix Evaluated PSM Software in 2026

Verdantix evaluated the PSM vendors from two angles, what their platforms can do and how the companies are positioned in the market. That assessment was divided into capabilities and momentum.

Capabilities: How Well the Software Supports PSM Work

Verdantix assessed 13 capability areas to look at how well each platform supports the actual work behind a PSM program. Rather than focusing on a single application, the evaluation looked at several layers of the platform:

  • Core PSM workflows: Can teams manage work such as management of change, incident investigations, permits, and process risk assessments in a structured way?
  • Enterprise use: Can the platform connect with other systems, adapt workflows to different sites, and give teams access to consistent information across the organization?
  • Technology: How is the platform using capabilities such as AI to support or automate parts of the work?

These criteria give buyers a sense of how broadly and deeply the software can support a process safety management (PSM) program.

Momentum: How Well the Provider Is Positioned for the Long Term

Momentum looks beyond the software available today. Verdantix assessed 10 areas that help show whether the provider has the direction and resources to keep developing its PSM offering. That includes:

  • Product and market strategy: Does the provider have a clear direction for where the platform is going?
  • Ability to execute: Is the company investing in innovation and building the resources needed to deliver on that strategy?
  • Market traction: Are customers adopting the platform, and how is the provider viewed in the market?

For a long-term software decision, buyers need to look beyond whether the platform meets today’s requirements. They also need confidence that the provider can keep investing in the product and adapting it as PSM needs and technology change.

Benchmark Gensuite Strengths in the 2026 PSM Green Quadrant

Benchmark Gensuite’s strongest results in the Verdantix assessment came from both product capabilities and market momentum. Management of change and AI stood out on the capability side, with hazardous chemicals management and incident management also performing above the category average. Benchmark also posted leading results in market vision and product strategy.

Management of Change

Management of change was Benchmark Gensuite’s strongest capability in the Green Quadrant and the highest MOC score among the vendors evaluated. Verdantix specifically highlighted the platform’s structured workflows and its ability to standardize the process across an organization.

Benchmark Gensuite’s Management of Change software supports configurable assessments and review paths, assigned responsibilities, notifications, action tracking, and dashboards. Verdantix also noted that workflows can be configured by factors such as change type, risk level, facility, or jurisdiction.

That combination is especially relevant for multi-site organizations. Teams can create a consistent approach to managing change while still giving individual sites enough flexibility to reflect their own processes and operating conditions.

Product Strategy and Market Direction

Benchmark also stood out on the momentum side of the Green Quadrant. It earned the highest score in the field for market vision and business strategy and the second-highest score for product strategy.

That position is also reflected in Verdantix’s 2025 market-perception research. Benchmark ranked second in positive brand perception and third in brand awareness among the PSM providers evaluated, with Verdantix pointing to its enterprise-scale platform and product roadmap centered on agentic AI.

For PSM buyers, those findings add a longer-term dimension to the evaluation. Current functionality matters, but so do the provider’s roadmap, investment priorities, and ability to keep developing the platform as process safety needs change.

AI With Human Oversight

AI was another area Verdantix explicitly highlighted, describing Benchmark Gensuite as having a solid agentic AI ecosystem for organizations expanding their use of AI in PSM. The research also called out Genny AI Agents as part of that direction.

Those capabilities already support specific process safety workflows. In hazardous chemicals management, Genny AI can parse SDS data, screen for PFAS, and flag regulatory concerns. For incident investigations, AI supports structured 5-Why and Fishbone root-cause analysis.

Verdantix also pointed to PSM-specific AI support for hazard identification, risk assessments, and bowtie development. That work sits within Benchmark Gensuite’s Genny AI approach, where AI supports the analysis while people remain responsible for review and consequential decisions.

That emphasis on oversight also appears in Verdantix’s separate market-perception research. The firm highlighted Benchmark Gensuite’s disclosures around SOC certifications, encryption, and AI safeguards, including its policy that data are not used to train external models.

What the Verdantix Findings Mean for Process Safety Teams

The Green Quadrant also provides a concrete example of Benchmark Gensuite supporting process safety risk management at scale. INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA deployed the platform to standardize its approach and, as of February 2026, had completed 175 LOPA studies and generated nearly 2,500 PHA-related action items. Approximately 1,900 had been formally closed and verified.

That deployment shows why the work after a risk assessment matters just as much as completing the study itself. Benchmark Gensuite’s Process Safety Management software brings PHA information, revalidation tracking, and follow-up actions together so teams can keep findings visible through closure as programs grow across sites.

That is ultimately what the Green Quadrant recognition helps validate: how well the platform supports the work behind a mature PSM program.
