Driving Engagement, Standardisation, and Data Insights Through Digital EHS Leadership
At the 2025 Benchmark Gensuite Customer Impact Conference, we spoke with Sophie Beckers, Global EHS Digital Lead at Perfetti Van Melle, about how digital tools and data are shaping stronger engagement, consistent processes, and future-ready EHS systems across the organisation.
With nearly five years in her role, Sophie plays a key part in strengthening safety culture by connecting people, processes, and data. For her, Benchmark Gensuite is more than software. It’s a system that builds confidence, creates standards, and supports sustainable improvement.

Can you tell us about a project that excites you right now?
Sophie: We’re working on expanding our data capabilities. After years of getting data into the system, we’re now focused on what we can get out of it. With Power BI and the potential of data lakes or a data warehouse, Benchmark is helping us explore new ways to unlock more insights from the information we’ve been capturing.
What has it meant for your career to work with Benchmark Gensuite?
Sophie: I’m 29 and still quite early in my career. Benchmark has shown me what good looks like. In a company that’s highly creative but not always standardised, the platform has helped us establish sustainable processes that will last into the future. That’s not something I could have created alone; it’s what the system has taught me.
Is there a particular tool you consider indispensable?
Sophie: Definitely concern reporting. When we launched it, it was the easiest way to engage people and get them familiar with the system. Once concerns started coming in, actions followed, and adoption grew quickly. We renamed it Speak Up to keep it open, positive, and accessible.
Can you share a moment when Benchmark support made a real difference?
Sophie: A system update once changed the Speak Up QR code across more than 30 factories worldwide. Benchmark Gensuite fixed it immediately, even late at night. That responsiveness saved us from a major global issue and reinforced my trust in the partnership.
